Endodoncias en Córdoba

Endodontics can prevent the extraction of a tooth when the pulp (the nerve) of the tooth is irreversibly affected by trauma or deep decay. Applying this treatment ensures that the tooth continues to perform its functions of chewing and aesthetics. It also solves the problem of sensitivity to cold and heat.

How it is performed?

The pulp chamber is accessed and the pulp is removed manually. Then it is cleaned, enlarged and moulded, that is, medicated sanitation in the pulp chamber and in the root canals, to then proceed to its filling.

Tooth restoration

Once the cleaning is finished, the composite dental stump is restored or rebuilt. Sometimes it is necessary to place a bolt, post or cast core and finally cover it with a crown if necessary.

There is a small percentage in which endodontics fails to eliminate all infected tissue and the problem persists. It occurs in cases of teeth with accessory ducts, very curved ducts or very narrow ducts. On other occasions, the infection has spread to the bone and decay removal is not enough because bacteria have already attacked the bone. Finally, another possible complication is the root fracture. The strength of the chewing exceeds the resistance of the root walls, cracks that evolve into fractures and infection may occur.

Tooth fracture

The most frequent complication in an endodontic tooth is the fracture of the piece. The cause of these fractures is the force of chewing on weakened dental walls.

If the fracture is a part of the crown without affecting the root there will be no problem. With a "holster" or "crown" the endodontic and fractured piece will be rehabilitated and the function and aesthetics will be recovered.

If the fracture extends to the root, the only possible treatment is the replacement of the dental piece with an implant. In these situations, there is pain, although it is not usually very intense, and always infection with positive probing. Despite what it means to lose your own dental piece, the solution with an implant is fully satisfactory. The best measure to prevent fractures is the placement of the cover over the crown.

On rare occasions, it is necessary to clean the ducts again in order to eliminate all living matter that may have remained in another endodontics.

The prognosis of a re-root canal is usually not entirely positive. But according to our criteria, everything reasonably possible must be done to save one's teeth.

There is no "lifetime warranty". Success is very high, exceeding 95% of cases. Teeth treated and restored in this way can last a lifetime if properly cared for. It should be taken into account that they can suffer cavities; therefore, it is essential to adopt good oral hygiene habits and go to regular dental exams to avoid future problems.
The usual treatment and with excellent results is the replacement of the piece with an implant.
When a root canal is performed, there are still nerve endings at the external level of the root, which can generate a sensation of pain before a thermal stimulus (heat, cold) or percussion (when closing the teeth). But when the endodontic treatment is complete, all symptoms disappear.
